SVK Armed Forces welcome measures to strengthen our defence capability

The Slovak Armed Forces welcome all the adopted measures directed towards strengthening the security of the Slovak Republic as a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.

The Defense Cooperation Agreements are just such a step and contribute to enhancing the interoperability of individual Armed Forces as Parties to the Agreement. Close coordination of joint engagements enables our Armed Forces to make effective use of the allocated resources in order to upgrade the operational readiness of their individual components.

Chief of Defence Gen Daniel Zmeko said: “We are ready to use every opportunity to strengthen our readiness to conduct the core task that is placed before the Slovak Armed Forces within the meaning of applicable legislation, and the Defense Cooperation Agreement with our strategic partner, the United States of America, is exactly such an opportunity for us as well.”

As significant benefits, the Defense Cooperation Agreement provides greater flexibility to organise joint training events and exercises, as well as the opportunity to refurbish the long-neglected Defence infrastructure allocated to the tasks of defending the Slovak Republic as part of NATO's collective defence system.
