Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď has announced the appointment of PhDr Marian Uhrin, PhD, as the new Director of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) Museum Banská Bystrica, with effect from 1 April 2022. Mr Uhrin's appointment was made on merit after fair and open competition.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “I’ve been in touch with the Museum leadership on a regular basis and, as has been the case so far, what we expect from the director is to ensure transparent management and dignified representation. I want to thank all the candidates for participating in the challenging selection process and I wish director Uhrin all the best in his new role. I have full confidence in him.”
The selection process was divided into two stages: non-public and public. The first one included a written test and an interview and the second one a public hearing.
Of all the four candidates – Assoc Prof PhDr Pavol Šteiner, PhD, PhDr Pavel Mičianik, PhD, MA, Prof PaedDr Jaroslav Mazůrek, CSc, and PhDr Marian Uhrin, PhD, only two candidates successfully passed the written test and the interview in front of the selection board on 16 March 2022.
This was followed by a public hearing where the candidates answered questions relating to their suitability to the role. The public hearing was live-streamed on the Slovak Ministry of Defence's Facebook on 29 March 2022.
