Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď has vigorously rejected the statement presented today at a press conference by Robert Fico MP, who, having been accused of setting up a criminal group, may have made it most probably in a state of despair and fear in the face of justice.
Minister Naď called on the accused Mr Robert Fico MP not to blacken the reputation of Military Intelligence (MI), which, after long years, is committed, exclusively and provably, to serving the security interests of the State. Moreover, unlike throughout the periods of Fico's and Pellegrini's governments, today it is no longer misused for advancing political interests.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “I call on the accused Mr Robert Fico MP not to use fabrications against an agency which is doing, provably, everything it can to protect Slovakia and its citizens in his awkward political defence. What Military Intelligence was doing during the accused Mr Ficoʼs time in office is on his conscience and he must take responsibility for it, but, as usual, it has, once again, emerged that Fico judges others according to his own acts.”
Jaroslav Naď noted that if Mr Fico has any reason to suspect Military Intelligence of engaging in illegal activity against his person, he, as a lawyer, knows how to report such activity in line with legislation.
To conclude, let this be a lesson to the ex-prime minister – the official name of the MOD agency is “Military Intelligence” rather than “Military Defence Intelligence”.
