Defence Minister Naď meets with representatives of military associations and trade unions

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď received Mr Emmanuel Jacob, President of the European Organisation of Military Associations and Trade Unions (EUROMIL), as well as representatives of the SVK Soldiers Association, which has been a member of the international non-profit organisation for 29 years.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “For us, service personnel are our highest priority and our doors are always open to them. The same applies to the professional organisations that protect their interests. Our effort is to get them directly involved in the processes that concern them, as in the case with the drafting of the State Service of Active Duty Soldiers Amendment Bill.”
To ensure that all rights and interests of military personnel are protected, Minister Naď reminded that he intends to appoint a Service Complaints Ombudsman for the Slovak Armed Forces to oversee service grievances. He also underscored his continued support for the SVK Soldiers Association's activities to the benefit of shaping the development of social welfare provision.
Col (Rtd) Ján Paulech, the head of the SVK Soldiers Association, highlighted the MOD's constructive approach towards service personnel, as evidenced by the office call of members of the Association with the defence minister as early as the 13th day of his office. Among others, Mr Paulech appreciated the minister's resolve to preserve all social benefits for service members during his tenure.
Another topic of the meeting was the upcoming 125th EUROMIL General Assembly, which is due to take place at Garrison House Trenčín on Friday 29 April 2022.
EUROMIL is an European organisation composed of 32 military associations and trade unions based in 21 EU countries. Its core mission is to promote the professional and social interests, and fundamental rights and freedoms of European soldiers. It is the main Europe-wide forum for cooperation among professional military associations on issues of common interest.
