MOD briefs members of Military Diplomatic Corps on Slovakia's current defence and security priorities

At the SVK Ministry of Defence on Wednesday 22 June 2022, Deputy Defence Minister Marian Majer along with top MOD officials briefed the Military Diplomatic Corps on the SVK Government and MOD's positions on defence issues, military aid for Ukraine, and the priorities of the Slovak Vysegrád Group Presidency (SVK V4 PRES).

Speaking after the briefing on current security issues, Marian Majer said: “Keeping our Allies updated is of immense importance for ensuring effective cooperation, whether in providing assistance to Ukraine or in coordinating our positions and decisions to the benefit of strengthening our collective defence.”

Director General of the SVK MOD's Defence Policy Department Martin Sklenár introduced the military diplomatic community to the themes and priorities of SVK V4 PRES, saying: “The Slovak V4 Presidency will build on the main initiatives under the strategic goals set out by the previous presidencies, with a particular focus on concrete inputs to common European solutions and positive practical benefits for our citizens.”

The briefing included recent progress made in forming the NATO Multinational Battlegroup Slovakia (NATO MN BG SVK), information on the current number of troops in the battlegroup, and the date of declaration of Full Operational Capability (FOC), as well as changes made to the organisational structure of the SVK Defence Staff.
