SVK service personnel to aid firefighting efforts in the Czech Republic

The wildfires the Czech Republic has been battling in the past few days have most affected the Bohemian Switzerland National Park. Responding to the Czech Republic's call for help to extinguish the wildfire at today's extraordinary meeting, the SVK Government has authorised a deployment of up to 30 SVK service personnel to the Czech Republic, supported by a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter equipped with a Bambi Bucket aerial firefighting system as well as ground assets.

Speaking after the SVK Government's extraordinary meeting, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “I announced our assistance for the Czech Republic immediately after we complied with the protocols required to be followed after the deployment of our service members to Slovenia. At the same time, I want to thank our military professionals for their readiness and commitment to helping wherever it is needed most.”
