Head of the Slovak MOD meets the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Slovakia

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď received the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Slovakia, His Excellency Mr Alex Vodicka Winther along with the Deputy Head of Mission, Ms Mariann Ruud Hagen at the Ministry of Defence in Bratislava, for talks on the security developments in Europe and the opportunities to further deepen SVK-NOR defence cooperation.
Speaking at the meeting, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “The NATO Alliance and the EU must be ready to face the efforts to disrupt our security, unity and cohesion, including resolving the security challenges posed by the Russian Federationʼs hybrid actions. Towards this end, deeper cooperation between Allies means reinforcing the security and stability of the entire Euro-Atlantic area.”
The partners discussed the situation in Ukraine in the near, mid and long term, the potential military and humanitarian aid packages for Ukraine, and Russia's hybrid operations in Europe. Minister Naď appreciated Norway's interest in co-funding the production of Zuzana 2 Self-propelled Gun Howitzers (SpGHs) for Ukraine. They also spoke about ways to develop the cooperation between the SVK and NOR defence industries and the prospects for making ever closer bilateral links.
During their first official meeting, Minister Naď also updated Ambassador Winther on the SVK Ministry of Defence's priorities and intents to upgrade the Slovak Armed Forces with specific defence capabilities.
