The Ministry of Defence has issued advance warning to the public that a planned rotation of forces in the NATO Multinational Battlegroup Slovakia (NATO MN BG SVK) will be underway from 28 November to 4 December 2022. Over the period, Allied forces will be moving by road and rail across Slovakia as the national contingents on NATO duties rotate to maintain a continuous military presence in Slovakia.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “While the military aggression just across our border is evolving day by day, we are providing regular updates to prevent the spread of disinformation and the misuse of information to create unjustified fear. Naturally over time, Allied forces need to rotate their military personnel as well as vehicles and equipment, so that they can continue to conduct operations to the benefit of strengthening our collective defence and security capability.”
To eliminate any temporary disruptions to road and rail traffic, these extensive movements will occur at night. The MOD will provide Military Police (MP) escorts to the Allied convoys to make sure everything is going as smoothly as planned.
