What has so far been the fourth reshuffle of the top Russian commanders overseeing the Russian invasion forces in the aggression against Ukraine is an example of their chaotic and non-conceptual leadership and prevailing problems in achieving their operational goals. According to available information, Chief of the General Staff Gen Valery Gerasimov has replaced Gen Sergei Surovikin as Theatre Commander in Ukraine.
In response to the realignment of the commanders leading the war in Ukraine, Slovak Chief of Defence Gen Daniel Zmeko said: “We assess the latest reshuffle of the top Russian commanders overseeing Russian forces in Ukraine as evidence of a continued failure. In essence, it is a desperate step wherein Russiaʼs top general will be tasked with leading just one campaign, albeit an extensive one, instead of addressing the strategic tasks linked to force generation.”
Originally planned for 10 days, the military operation has lasted for almost 10 months now, demonstrating the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the art of operations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Needless to note, this is in stark contrast to the original assumptions. The military assistance delivered to Ukraine by the international community has helped our Ukrainian colleagues to a very great extent, as well as being a source of deep frustration within the ranks of the aggressor's commanders corps.
