State Secretary Marian Majer: The United Kingdom is our important geopolitical partner and ally who significantly contributes to addressing global security challenges

State Secretary of the SVK Ministry of Defence Marian Majer received His Excellency Mr Nigel Baker, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Slovakia, at the Ministry of Defence in Bratislava today. Topics on the agenda included the SVK-UK bilateral defence relationship and ways to take it forward across key areas of cooperation, Slovakia's assistance to Ukraine, and the upcoming Vilnius NATO Summit.
In a statement, State Secretary Marian Majer said: “The United Kingdom is our important geopolitical partner and ally who significantly contributes to addressing global security challenges. We want to further deepen bilateral cooperation with our UK partners. The willingness of both countries to look for areas of common interest and explore possibilities for joint projects is a positive step forward.”
During the meeting, State Secretary Majer recognised the United Kingdom's leading role in support of Ukraine, whether it be training Ukrainian forces, coordinating flows of international military assistance, or its readiness to lead efforts to restore post-war Ukraine.
State Secretary Majer updated Ambassador Baker on the MOD's highest priorities. Both leaders discussed the processes going on in the Alliance, with a particular focus on the Vilnius NATO Summit. They also appreciated the quality of the SVK-UK defence relationship and the excellent programme of military education, training and exercises.
