Colonel R. Császár assumes the appointment of Commander NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence

Colonel Róbert Császár today took up the appointment of Commander NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (NATO EOD COE), taking over from Colonel Ľubomír Mrváň. The Change of Command (COC) ceremony was held at the Trenčín Garrison Club and was attended by SVK Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš and other MOD and Armed Forces officials.
 
In his speech, SVK Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said:
 
“Our Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence has an irreplaceable place on the international stage. For more than 7 years Slovak EOD specialists have demonstrated through their responsible and highly accurate work that they are among the worlds best.” He thanked the outgoing commander, Col Mrváň, for his job well done and wished the incoming commander, Col Császár, a lot of strength and energy in performing his new duties. “The quality of Slovak EOD specialistswork is also viewed within NATO to be at a high level. I believe the Centre under your command will continue to move in the set direction,” he said.
 
Addressing the gathered audience, Chief of Defence General Milan Maxim said:
 
Just as the outgoing commander, Col Mrváň, has proved himself capable in his appointment, I also believe the incoming commander, Col Császár, will prove his value and will continue to improve the EOD COE. And the members of the Centre will maintain their readiness to perform tasks, because the results of their work are highly valued not only in the Slovak Republic but also in the international environment.”
 
Col Ľubomír Mrváň said:
 
“For the past 4 years we have succeeded in achieving a lot. The EOD COE Trenčín has secured the status of a NATO training and education facility and it can now efficiently assist the Alliance in facing future challenges.” He went on to thank the Minister of Defence and the Armed Forces for their support to the EOD COE’s challenging mission.
 
Col Róbert Császár said:
 
“I will do everything in my power to fulfil your expectations.” The new EOD COE Commander further underlined that the specific duties and responsibilities pertaining to his new appointment go beyond the borders of Slovakia.

The NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (NATO EOD COE) Trenčín was accredited in 2011 and the EOD domain is among the key capabilities of the Slovak Armed Forces.
