Minister Gajdoš meets Commander Allied JFC Brunssum General Erhard Bühler

Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš met Commander Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) General Erhard Bühler for talks at the SVK Ministry of Defence today (23 September 2019). Their meeting was dominated by topics such as NATO’s multilateral collaborative activities and SVK soldiers’ deployments on missions and operations abroad. General Bühler visited the SVK MOD at the invitation of SVK Chief of Defence General Daniel Zmeko. While in Slovakia, General Bühler will pay a visit to the NFIU SVK at Vajnory Barracks in Bratislava and the Military Technical and Testing Institute in Záhorie.
Speaking at the meeting, Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš said: “The Slovak Republic is a responsible member of the North Atlantic Alliance and an active contributor to international security. Be it to NATO’s activities in performing international crisis management tasks or to those performed within NATO structures.” In this respect, he praised the full operating capability of the NATO Force Integration Unit Slovakia (NFIU SVK).
During the meeting, Minister Gajdoš informed General Bühler about Slovakia delivering on its international commitments vis-à-vis NATO and meeting the requested uplifts in defence expenditure. On the modernization process, he updated him on the latest additions to the Defence inventory. On operational engagements, they paid special attention to SVK soldiers’ deployments on NATO missions and operations, especially to the NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) and the Resolute Support Mission (RSM) in Afghanistan.
