MOD launches 15th Literary Competition with “The inspirational General Štefánik” as main theme

The Ministry of Defence has launched the 15th Literary Competition open to secondary school, college and university students. This year’s main theme is: “The Inspirational General Štefánik”. In this way, the MOD would like to encourage youth to find keen interest in the life and values of this one of the most prominent personalities in our recent history. Those interested in sending their literary entries can email us at sutaz@mod.gov.sk until the midnight of 3 November 2019.

Students are free to choose their preferred literary genre, be it a poem, a story, a composition, an essay or others, with the word count set at 400-500 words and the text to be sent in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx or .pdf. Entries should be forwarded along with your personal contact information (name, surname, age, school name, and telephone number) and a written statement consenting to the processing of personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The MOD Literary Competition has two categories, one for students of secondary schools, including 8-year grammar schools, starting from Grade 5 and above, and one for college and university students, including long-distance and PhD students. Winners of both categories will be rewarded with €500 (1st place), €400 (2nd place), and €300 (3rd place).

As part of the 1st round until 22 November 2019, the jury will assess the entries and select the 5 best contributions in both categories. As part of the 2nd round between 25 November 2019 and the midnight of 2 December 2019, the selected entries will be made available, without the personal contact information about the writers, on the MOD’s facebook (www.facebook.com/mosr.sk) for an online “I like it” vote. Winners of both categories will be announced on 3 December 2019.
