Soldiers are helping at the site of the tower block tragedy

Members of the 2nd Mechanised Brigade Prešov are supporting the efforts at the site of the residential tower block gas explosion in Prešov. The Slovak military has earmarked 6 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and 1 SAR helicopter from the Helicopter Wing Prešov to support the rescue efforts. Also available is an accommodation facility for 55 people and 80 field beds in a gymnasium in Prešov. All requests made by the rescue services are dealt with promptly and operationally. Members of the Slovak Military Police are involved in regulating local traffic.
Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš and Deputy Chief of the Crisis Staff Ján Hoľko are heading to the site of the tragedy. "I can guarantee that our soldiers are ready to help with whatever is needed, be that technical equipment, psychological support or chaplaincy services," said the Defence Minister. At the same time, he expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and regret over the tragedy.
