The SVK Ministry of Defence will support interesting projects by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) this year too. As part of this call for proposals, the MOD offers a total of €100,000 in grants to NGOs. A grant of between €500 and €50,000 may be awarded per project. NGO applicants have until 31 March 2020 to submit their application for a grant.
Eligible applicants are the civil associations, foundations, interest associations of legal entities, non-investment funds, and not-for-profit organisations registered in Slovakia. Each applicant can submit only one application.
The MOD wants to support the projects oriented towards promoting educational, sporting, cultural and social activities and events in order to encourage the patriotism of SVK citizens, keep the public updated on EU and NATO developments, train SVK citizens for homeland defence, and promote the SVK Armed Forces, as well as catering for the cultural, spiritual and social needs of active duty soldiers, reservists, and veterans or those of top level and high performing sportspeople and sporting talents.
Also eligible for a grant are NGOs that can help facilitate the recruitment process in the SVK Armed Forces or protect and develop our historical and cultural heritage, with special focus on military history. Grants may also be awarded to cover the costs associated with participation in events organised by international organisations working with armed forces, including membership fees.
