Military Summer Festival calls at Banská Bystrica with engaging programme of music, rich side events, good cause and charity

The second Military Summer Festival will be held at the Open Air Theatre in Banská Bystrica on Sunday 1 August 2021, starting from 14:00hrs. Visitors to the festival will be treated to an exceptional display of music from well-known Slovak bands and military musicians of the SVK Armed Forces Band, with the added attraction of side events, including a flypast of MiG-29 fighter jets and L-39 Albatros aircraft, static displays of military vehicles, weaponry and equipment, and a Presidential Guard of Honour (GOH) programme. Admission is free.

The public will be treated to wide-ranging styles of music by bands such as Zoči voči, Zverina, Bijouterrier, Heľenine oči and the 40-member SVK Armed Forces Band. The event will be moderated by Peter "Šarkan" Novák.

Given the pandemic restrictions in place and the Regional Public Health Authority-issued coronavirus safety guidelines, a maximum of 1,000 people will be allowed to attend the event. The number of visitors to the festival will be continually monitored and made available on the official Military Summer Festival Facebook page at Facebook ).

The venue will be open to visitors from 14:00hrs. They are required to provide basic personal information to enable the tracing of contacts, without having to show a negative test result and a certificate of vaccination. Face coverings are required on entering the grounds and during the festival.

There will also be MOD information stands. People can also look forward to meeting sportsmen and women of the DUKLA Military Sports Centre Banská Bystrica and participating in a charitable auction of sports equipment donated by DUKLA sportspeople, followed by autograph signing and photo opportunities.

The Military Summer Fest promotes charity. Visitors are encouraged to support a good cause by buying a military themed T-Shirt. All the proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts, the auction and donations will go towards the Light Hope Charity for oncological patients and their families.
