Deputy Defence Minister M. Majer thanks Indonesian Ambassador A. A. Asmady for advancing SVK-IDN cooperation

Deputy Defence Minister Marian Majer hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Slovakia, Her Excellency Ms Adiyatwidi Adiwoso Asmady at MOD Main Building. During her last visit to the MOD as her four-year Diplomatic Service appointment in Slovakia draws to an end, Deputy Defence Minister Majer thanked Ambassador Asmady for her role in the general advancement of cooperation between the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Indonesia.

Deputy Defence Minister Marian Majer said: “Slovakia and Indonesia have enjoyed a tradition of friendly ties and share common values. This gives good ground for further development of our relations, even in the field of defence. Currently, an interdepartmental cooperation agreement on such areas as defence policy, armed forces development, education, training and exercises, military technical cooperation, defence industry, and, for example, military medical service is in the process of being drafted.“

At the meeting, Mr Majer updated Ambassador Asmady on the activities of SVK businesses in Indonesia and drew her attention to options to enhance the SVK-IDN relationship, even beyond the field of defence. He also appreciated Indonesia's membership in the UN Security Council and its work towards peace sustainment. In particular, he praised the adoption of the UN Security Council Resolution on Women in Peacekeeping Operations. He emphasised that, as a contributor to peacekeeping operations, Slovakia is interested in sharing lessons learned in this field.
